Sarah Rivers (Berg)
Professional Trainer, Instructor & Barn Manager
Sarah has had a passion for horses since she was very young and started weekly horseback riding lessons at three years old with Carole LeBlanc, a classical dressage instructor, friend, and mentor, who inspired her to be a lifelong learner, to always strive for harmony, and to listen to her horses - her greatest teachers.
Sarah rode her first pony, Autumn Morning Mist to first level and consistently brought home blue ribbons in local dressage shows and the USPC.
Her move up horse, Savannah, a Canadian Warmblood mare was a highly sensitive and complicated horse. She challenged Sarah to go beyond traditional training methods and this led Sarah to study equine psychology and natural horsemanship.
Sarah followed the Parelli self-study program which empowered her to become the partner Savannah needed. Savannah developed into a confident and willing partner. and became Sarah's bareback and bridle-less horse.
Sarah is a level 4 graduate and worked for several years as a Parelli professional prior to moving to and managing Fyrkat Farm in 2017.
Sarah's performance focus is classical dressage. She believes in a holistic approach to developing the equine athlete, incorporating equine psychology, engaging groundwork, nutrition, hoof care, saddle fitting the horse in motion, and classical training principles. She trains young horses to FEI level, as well as horses of all ages needing help with their foundation training, gaps in training, problem solving, general health, emotional, and physical development. She believes in helping her clients develop harmonious relationships with their equine partners. Her kind approach brings daily successes emotionally and physically for both horse and rider.
Sarah is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist and is presently training Tiamo's Brynhild "Bryn", a Hanoverian mare by Tiamo Trocadero out of Elite Mare Chatham (by Elite Trakehner Stallion, Consul). She was backed as a 9 year old and despite her late start, she is flourishing in her new life with Sarah's kind and correct training program.
Bryn started her show career in 2019 at GMHA with scores in the mid to high 70s at training level and first level. Sarah & Bryn have qualified for USDF Regional Dressage Championships every year since then. This team qualified at 4th level and Prix St. Georges in July of 2022. Sarah earned her USDF Silver Medal on Bryn at HITS Summer Dressage Show II, winning her class! This was Sarah's & Bryn's debut at FEI level! Bryn is schooling all of the Grand Prix movements.
Sarah's is also training Bjorn Ironside, a 2016 homebred Iberian Warmblood gelding by Festivo MR. He is a sensitive and playful baroque horse.
Sarah's newest edition to the herd is a 2018 Hanovarian gelding, Fürst Theodore by Fürst Romancier out of Performance (Prince Thatch xx)
He was recently imported from Germany. He is an elegant tall gentleman and they will be a pair to watch!
THE TEAM

Sophie & Christian Berg
Owners
Sophie and Christian have over 25 years experience caring for horses, many of which were rescues.
Sophie has had a love for horses since she was very young and realized her dream of having her own horse, when a beautiful palomino quarter horse named Scatman became her partner. He was a difficult horse for a beginner but ultimately became one of her greatest teachers.
Akasha, a Kiger Mustang born in captivity to wild parents came next and brought an intensity to the partnership which advanced Sophie's horsemanship to a new level.
Sophie is a registered nurse with over 35 years experience in emergency and cardiac nursing. She had worked with the United States Pony Club for over 12 years as both DC and treasurer of CCPC and as the Southeastern New England Region Dressage Rally organizer.
Christian is a general contractor and prefers his horse power in the form of a truck or tractor. He often is in his tractor dragging arenas and working on farm improvements. He always has a smile on his face and loves to meet and greet everyone on the farm.

Fyrkat Farm's mission is to provide a holistic approach to horse and rider development. We focus on mindful foundation practices, organic non-GMO forage based nutrition, equine biomechanics, saddle fitting of the horse in motion, healthy hooves, and a joyful learning environment. The horses enjoy and excel with chiropractic and massage therapy by amazing professionals. We provide small herds for play and socialization, as well as individual turnout when necessary.
A happy, healthy, comfortable and confident horse is set up to learn and be the partner of your dreams, whether for pleasure or performance! We regularly host dressage clinics.
